EEG Tech

Description:

The tech performs electroneurodiagnostic testing according to established policies and procedures, ensuring testing is safe and effective. Testing is performed on all ages. The Technician works under the supervision of a physician who is responsible for interpretation and clinical correlation of the results and reports. Electroneurodiagnostic studies include EEG, EMG, EP, NCS & Polysomnography.

  • Protects the confidentiality of each patient’s information in compliance with HIPAA
  • Is responsible for tracking reports from acquisition to interpretation and filing
  • Inventory Supplies, verifying stock levels
  • Receives supplies and ensures supplies are properly stored
  • Must be able to comprehend the computer read outs for EEG/EP/EMG tracings and computers used in the provision of services

Job Requirements:

Certification & Minimum Education

  • Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R.EEG T) OR be a registry in EEG by ABRET
  • Registered Nerve Conduction Study Technologist (R.NCS.T)
  • Current BLS certification by the American Heart Association (BLS for the Healthcare Provider) or ability to obtain prior to start date
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of an electroneurodiagnostic technology program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation or equivalent formal training.

Experience

  • 5 years of Electroneurodiagnostic testing experience preferred

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking/sitting
  • Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfer patients
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs

  • Access to and use of Protected Health Information – security clearance which allows employees to review, investigate, and respond to questions from payors
  • Security access permitted using the Practice entrances for this job category is during core hours of building management, 5 days a week
